10 Best Miami Places for Fried Chicken Day July 6th

One of our favorite “food” days is National Fried Chicken Day, which this year falls on Saturday, July 6th. Whether you prefer traditional Southern Fried Chicken or something a little more innovative, or just love the crunchy comfort food, get ready to dig in and enjoy.

MIAbites has you covered with the best spots in Miami to indulge in fried chicken:

Joe’s Stone Crab (11 Washington Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33139)

While many flock to Joe’s Stone Crab for the stone crabs, we’re wild about their fried chicken, which makes the perfect appetizer to accompany any meal at Joe’s. Their fried 1/2 free range chicken will only set you back $6.95, making it one of the most affordable (and delicious) items on the menu.

Eating House (804 Ponce de Leon Blvd. Coral Gables, FL 33134)

Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli’s fried chicken & waffles features spicy buttermilk and candied Applewood bacon drizzled with Vermont maple syrup. It’s so good that Travel + Leisure ranked it as one of America’s best chicken & waffle dishes.

Bird & Bone at The Confidante (4041 Collins Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33140)

Chef Richard Hales’ Nashville Hot Chicken is one of Bird & Bone’s top specialty menu items. This hot chicken dish is made with Florida honey, house mustard, and topped with cucumber pickles atop Zak The Baker Bread. On weekends indulge on his Hot Chicken and Waffles.

KYU (251 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33127)

KYU’s Korean fried chicken is served with braised spinach and red chili butter making it the best that Wynwood has to offer. Make sure you order as they tend to run out. Don’t forget to try their coconut cake for a sweet finale.

Whisk Gourmet Food & Catering (7382 SW 56th Avenue South Miami, FL 33143)

This Coral Gables restaurant serves amazing Southern fare and fried chicken three different ways. Their classic fried chicken breast is only available after 5 p.m., but it is definitely worth the wait. Their Bell & Evans fried chicken comes served with smashed potatoes, honey glazed green beans and bacon gravy. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Their open-faced fried chicken BLT features a fried Bell & Evans chicken leg, bacon, frisée, tomato, shaved red onion, mayo & pepper jelly on toasted challah. Whisk’s buttermilk fried chicken & organic spinach salad features avocado, chopped egg, red onion, roasted mushrooms and a honey mustard dressing making it a healthier dish.

Blue Ribbon (336 21st Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139)

You can’t go wrong with Blue Ribbon’s iconic fried chicken, which is served with wasabi honey. Not only is this fried chicken incredibly flavorful, but their crust is made with matzo-meal giving it that incredible (and memorable) crunch.

Finka Table & Tap (14690 SW 26 St. Miami, FL 33175)

KFC may be a fried chicken franchise, but not when it comes to this dish at Finka Table & Tap. Chef Eileen Andrade’s “KFC” Korean Fried Chicken is full of flavor, and is served with spicy gochujang and Boniato bread. It’s so tasty that you may want to consider ordering an extra dish of it so you don’t have to share your order with the rest of the table. This fried chicken pairs very nicely with any of Finak’s craft cocktails and amazing sides (we recommend the mac n3 cheese).

Ember (151 NE 41st St. Ste. 117, Miami, FL 33137)

Chef Brad Kilgore’s recently opened American-fare inspired restaurant Ember, is serving up gourmet comfort food including their smoked fried chicken. Their organic, free-range chicken is smoked, brined overnight, and then dunked in a crunchy batter. To top it off, this dish is served with a caviar butter and shredded spicy pickles on the side.

Red, The Steakhouse (119 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139)

While Red, The Steakhouse is regarded as a top high-end steakhouse serving signature cuts of beef, Chef Peter Vauthy also offers a free range organic buttermilk fried chicken, which is sold by the platter and only available on Fridays. Their crunchy fried chicken goes well with the Vidalia onion loaf, Red’s Florida creamed corn, four cheese macaroni & cheese and truffle whipped potatoes as an accompaniment. This fried chicken platter also pairs well with a bottle of champagne or white wine from their extensive wine list.

Planta (850 Commerce St, Miami Beach, FL 33139)

For those looking for a vegetarian option to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day, we recommend Dave Grutman’s plant-based restaurant, Planta for their fried “chicken” & waffles brunch plate. This dish is made of mushrooms and topped with gravy and a maple siracha, and it pairs perfectly with their truffle French fries.

The Surf Club Four Seasons Surfside (9011 Collins Ave. Surfside, FL 33154)

Chef Thomas Keller’s chic restaurant in the glamorous Four Seasons has a special every first Tuesday of every month featuring his perfectly battered and fried chicken, topped with fresh rosemary sprigs and a buttery biscuit. Not available for National Fried Chicken Day, but make a reservation for August 6th.

With so many incredible options for fried chicken in Miami, there’s no reason not to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day.
