What I ATE This Week- MIAbites Contributors

If you follow any of our MIAbites Contributors on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you are constantly bombarded with some pretty amazing pictures of food and drink that has been consumed, it seems almost endlessly

How can anyone eat and drink ALL that food and go to ALL those places?

Well Our MIAbites Contributors do, from evenings out with friends, to lunches at favorite classic spots, to events hosted by restaurants, fellow bloggers and spirit purveyors.  It is hard to keep up and so as a special MIAbites feature we bring you.... What I ATE This Week!

David Sprintis- @DavidSprintis

Here are pictures of a couple of dishes that we had at Gabose Pocha on Saturday. This is Gabose’s sister restaurant, and it specializes in Korean street food. ( read MIAbites article about Pocha here )

One is the crispy tofu, stuffed with minced shiitake mushrooms. The other one is abalone. The abalone is from their selection of live seafood, that they have flown in from Korea every week. Last week they had abalone and LIVE octopus, but unfortunately I couldn’t interest anyone at my table into trying the octopus.

Aside from these dishes, we also had seafood ramen soup, fish cake soup which came with skewers with 3 different kinds of fish cakes and an umami-packed broth, pig ear lettuce cups, sautéed pork belly, spicy rice cakes, crispy fried Korean fluke and crispy chicken gizzards. All in all, a great experience.

The Beef Tartare at Proof Pizza is so non typical for a Pizza Restaurant , but not with Justin Flit and his partners.
The Allen Brothers Beef with the guy’s secret formula and served with Pizza Bread with oil and Parmesan is amazing!

Went to Proof Pizza and Pasta on Saturday and everything was excellent--just a little too heavy on the lemon in all the dishes, for my taste. One of my favorite dishes was the lamb sausage with lentils, eggplant, and pea tendrils. The sausage was so tasty and the lentils and eggplant were stewed a bit so it created a sort of sauce to "dip" the sausage in. Excellent!

A business trip took me to NOLA this week. Clam, garlic butter, chili flake, parmigiano Pizza at Domenica by John Besh in New Orleans, LA.   So good that I ended up sharing it with the couple sitting next to me at the bar. They owe me...:)

Javier Ramirez- @GourmandJ

I love Latin American Restaurant on Calle 8 since it has my favorite Cubano and Medianoche. But this week I tried their "medianoche de pierna" which is their pork leg meat inside the sweetish medianoche bread. To die for.

Mandy Baca- @mandybaca

My Ceviche- Charred octopus tacos with pickled red onions, radishes, queso fresco, cilantro, and avocado. Extra avocado is a must! Read MIAbites article about My Ceviche here.

Paula Antoniazzi @MyRumorist

The Vagabond Restaurant in MiMo. Recently renovated, 1 week old and did not disappoint. Read about the 1950's classic hotel on MIAbites here.
