What I ATE: MIAbites Contributors
If you follow any of our MIAbites Contributors on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you are constantly bombarded with some pretty amazing pictures of food and drink that has been consumed, it seems almost endlessly.
How can anyone eat and drink ALL that food and go to ALL those places?
Well Our Contributors do, from evenings out with friends, to lunches at favorite classic spots, to events hosted by restaurants, fellow bloggers and spirit purveyors. It is hard to keep up and so as a special MIAbites feature we bring you....
What I ATE...

Here's an amazing fact: Miami now has a number of places for you to visit on #tacotuesday. How amazing is that? Last Tuesday got me rethinking the hashtag and wanting to create one for #totopostuesday. Have you had the blue corn totopos at Taquiza on Miami Beach? If you have, you're nodding in agreement already. I could eat my weight in them; with a side of their guacamole. The tacos at Taquiza are fantastic as well. And Tuesday saw me do something I never even did when I lived in Mexico... eat a taco of "chapulines". Gotta admit they were tasty!

Making xiao long bao (or soup dumplings) has been on my cooking bucket list for a few years. This week I made pork and crab soup dumplings. Everything from scratch: freshly ground pork, hand rolled dough, and chicken and pork broth made into gelatin. They were amazing!

The Gang is an Asian fusion restaurant with a very Wynwood artsy vibe from their decor to their dishes. Lots of spices and Asian flavors were present in the dishes and everything is made to order. I really loved the crispy Tibetan Spring Rolls and the Tom Yumand Shrimp Dumpling soups.

Seafood lovers, this one is for you! This summer, the Four Seasons in Brickell is hosting SPF Saturdays, a coastal cuisine experience by the pool that includes a raw bar with ceviche, oysters, and shrimp, and a traditional Southern seafood boil (pictured below), made with lobster, pink shrimp, Florida clams, mussels and crawfish simmered in Cajun-style spices, and accompanied by corn, golden potatoes and house made smoked sausage.

I haven't figured out yet if having Lulu's nitrogen ice cream shop open up in one of the storefronts of my building is a blessing or a curse. The other night, I couldn't resist the urge and walked downstairs for a healthy snack. The reasoning behind this idea; they source the milk from their own adopted cow and use the freshest of ingredients from local providers. As I walked inside, the smell of guava permeated the establishment, which is why choosing the guava cheesecake special was a no-brainer. One does not know for how long they'll offer the special creation, so naturally, I opted for the pint size (and some waffle sprinkles) to carry me through the week. Needless to say all efforts were futile. But hey, Labor Day is upon us, what better reason than to treat yo self! (any reason will do for Lulu's).

I was late in the game to get to Alter, this lunch was my first visit. I decided to take my sons for a back to school lunch. Hands down, my favourite dishes were the scallops and the "soft egg". The latter is a most interesting dish as the poached egg sits on a toasted piece of crunchy Gruyere in a sea of scallop cream foam, dotted with truffle caviar micro spheres.

So during the summer months while mostly in CT, I spend every Thursday at The Westport Farmers Market, truly a market with something for everyone. Sport Hill Farm produce and fresh eggs, Red Bee Honey, Wave Hill Breads, Fort Hill Farms produce, Gilbertie Herbs, even organic dog food, and a number of upscale food trucks including my favorite; Boxcar Cantina. Their tamales are the real deal, wrapped in corn husk they are stuffed with cornmeal, corm kernels, spicy shredded chicken (or pork or black beans) and topped with salsa, chipotle cream and hot sauce. And their hard shell corn tacos are just as good. My secret addiction…every Thursday everyone knows where to find me at 12; 30 pm.
