Orange Bowl 2017: Fan Fest before the big game features Burger Battle!

The Miami Hurricanes (10-2 overall/ 7-0 home) face off against the Wisconsin Badgers (12-1 overall/ 7-0 home)) in this year's legendary Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, December 30th.  

Before the game, no doubt Hurricane fans will proudly show off their dominance in the tailgate party category!  

BUT, What’s a real game day tailgate without a juicy burger?

UPDATE:  Some tough competition, but Pincho Factory took home the trophy for the third year in a row!

For the third consecutive year, the ultimate game day culinary competition, The Savor℠ Card Burger Battle, is returning to the Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest presented by the Capital One Venture Card in the parking lot of Hard Rock Stadium at the South Entrance ahead of the 84th Capital One Orange Bowl. Admission to the event is free for all fans with a ticket to the 2017 Capital One Orange Bowl. Fun Fest festivities begin at 3 pm and go on until 7 pm.

Fans attending the Fan Fest will have a taste of home on game day as two-time winning Burger Battle champions Chefs Nedal Ahmad and Adrian Sanchez from Pincho Factory will represent the University of Miami.  Miami Chef Michael Mayta will also return to defend the title as the most recent Burger Battle Champion.  Michael Leto and Michael Gust from Madison’s Nitty Gritty will represent the University of Wisconsin.

The winning chef will take home the trophy as The Savor℠Card Burger Battle champion.  

This year’s Orange Bowl Hall of Fame Inductees will determine the winners.  In addition, a panel of social media influencers and select local Miami food bloggers, including MIAbites will help judge the contest.  There will also be burger samples for attendees to try and judge for themselves. 

The Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest will feature a variety of activities for the whole family including a Kids’ Zone, zip line, bungee trampolines, rock climbing wall, and additional live entertainment on the main stage.  Fans will also enjoy interactive games and exhibits, a wide variety of food trucks, beverages, and performances by participating university bands, cheerleaders and talent.

Headlining Fan Fest is alternative music star Nate Reuss.  The Iowa native is most famous for his role as the lead singer of the band fun.  The band’s second album, “Some Nights,” has sold more than a million copies, spawned three chart-topping singles and earned fun a pair of Grammys.

Tickets are available for the 2017 Capital One Orange Bowl, which includes complimentary admission to the Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest presented by the Capital One Venture Card.
