Brunch with a View: Lightkeepers on Key Biscayne
On Saturdays, Lightkeepers in the Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne offers a contemporary, a la carte brunch, as a fun weekend alternative to the more typical family friendly brunch buffet on Sundays. It's a hopping place with great music with a kind of techno-ish beat. And Lightkeepers has one of the best seaside views, and a perfect place to bring and impress a date, out of town guests or your family and friends. All menus, crafted by Executive Chef Raul A. Del Pozo, feature the freshest seafood and land dishes from South Florida’s waters and local farms.
For our Saturday Brunch as invited guests, we started with champagne and a refreshing berry sangria.
Saturday a la carte starters include $1 East Coast Oysters; Crispy Crab Cake with citrus preserve, Old Bay remoulade; Lobster Mac and Cheese with Velveeta Béchamel, Winter Park dairy cheddar or Lamb and Chorizo Empanadas.
We chose the Keeper's Wife's biscuits, which were delicious. Light and flaky with a bacon essence and local honey butter
and Beets and Burrata, with ultra-fresh creamy burrata made in house with milk flown in from Naples, tasty beets – not only delicious to eat, but a feast for the eyes too with its beautiful color composition!
For main courses the Miami Hash was hearty and very filling with congris, shredded and crispy vaca frita beef, salsa verde and two eggs any style. And added as a side, some crispy and spicy brussels sprouts.
We also had the very fresh Blackened Mahi Sandwich with garden lettuces, heirloom tomato, and garlic aioli.
No brunch is complete without a sweet ending. We had the trio of desserts and the powdered sugar topped beignets were the star! The rum cake was also good as well as the light and refreshing lemon tart.
And that view. It is beautiful and one of the more spectacular dining views in Miami. You can choose to sit inside or out. And as a parting gift, they even gave us a box of fresh cookies to take home.
Brunch is offered a la carte on Saturdays, and as buffet on Sundays Priced at $89 per adult and $39 per child ages 5 to 12, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations recommended.
