Agaveros Cantina: A Hidden Gem on Miami Beach

Located right off Collins Avenue in the Gates Hotel, you’ll find Agaveros Cantina - a Mexican spot with more than 75 tequilas and mezcals imported from Mexico. Chef Nicolas Bour was appointed executive chef early in 2018 and has redesigned the entire menu to reflect a style all his own.

On the menu guests can expect a modern take on the classic taqueria with dishes like Pescado Crujiente, a crispy red snapper Veracruz made with tomato, olives and capers or tacos al carbon with chimichurri and skirt steak.

Chef Bour, who almost Beat Bobby Flay, has also added cod fritters to the menu as an ode to the fritters he made on the Food Network television show. These cod fritters are made with some of the freshest fish available, as the chef gets deliveries almost daily.

Agaveros Cantina is the perfect off the beaten path spot for delicious dining on South Beach. Tucked away in the Gates Hotel, diners can enjoy a margarita while enjoying fresh made guacamole and some of the freshest Mexican food in Miami.

Miami Beach is home to some incredible restaurants and distinguishing yourself among the crowd of talented chefs and successful establishments is an exciting challenge. Our menu is not only inspired by the flavors of Mexico, but also by the eclectic vibe of Miami,” says Chef Bour.

With an extensive restaurant industry background, Chef Bour, comes to Miami most recently from Rhode Island where he was the executive chef for Ocean House Management where he oversaw two restaurants on property of the luxury boutique hotel. Before that he was at Loews Coronado Bay opening and operating its two dining outlets as well as a market, juice bar, and high-end yacht programs.

The Gates Hotel is lucky to have such talent, especially when it’s bringing delicious Mexican cuisine to Miami Beach.
