Saturday Sweets: Where to Satisfy Mom’s Sweet Tooth!

So you missed Mother's Day. There is still time to enjoy most of these treats. Whether she’s your Mom, Grandma, or a family friend that raised you – we’ve all got someone special who deserves a little extra attention and by attention, I mean SWEETS!  So in honor of all the “Miami Moms”, here are five desserts that are sure to satisfy mom’s sweet tooth.

PINCH Kitchen - Orange Chocolate Soufflé with Creme Anglaise

I know I featured this one in a “What I ATE: Best Bites” article a few months back but it’s just that good.  PINCH Kitchen's soufflé is baked and served inside of a hollowed out orange and then covered in an amazing crème.  Not only is it pretty to look at but it’s rich and decadent, perfect for a Mother’s Day treat. PINCH Kitchen 8601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33138

Zest – Apple Pie for Two

The Apple Pie at Zest is a breath of fresh air for those who aren’t crazy for chocolate.  Served as a whole mini pie with a side of Cheddar Cheese Whipped Cream and drizzled with Rum Salted Caramel.  The chunks of apples are spiced to perfection and the crust is warm with just the right amount of flakiness.  The whipped cream is an added touch that helps cut the sweetness of the pie making it great for those who don’t love super sweet desserts.  Plus, it’s made for two so it’s exactly what you need to share a special moment with Mom. Zest Restaurant 200 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33131

The Salty Donut – The Limited Edition Mother’s Day Donut

Once again The Salty Donut is making dreams come true.  In addition to their regular 7 flavor menu, this weekend they will be featuring a special donut just for Mother’s Day.  The Limited Edition Donut is a 24 hr raised brioche donut, Meyer lemon glaze, pistachio pieces, topped with both a fresh rose petal and a beautiful crystallized rose petal.  It will be available both Saturday and Sunday.  You know how their lines get so if you promise Mom this one make sure you get there early!  This almost makes me wish I were in town this weekend so I didn’t have to miss it.  Side note: if anyone wants to bring me one Tuesday when I get back, I’d love you forever.  The Salty Donut 29 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127

Bianca at the Delano – Dessert Buffet

Bianca at the Delano offers an amazing brunch buffet with free flowing Veuve Clicquot included for $85.  This brunch offers everything you can imagine from lobster to build your own pasta to a sushi bar and all the breakfast stables, but my favorite part is the insane dessert spread.  There’s cheesecake, macarons, brownies, crème brulee, cookies of all shapes and sizes and that’s just getting started.  If your Mom loves sweets this is the ultimate Mother’s Day dessert display. Bianca at the Delano 1685 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Kone Sushi – Mini Sweet Cones

Tucked away in the middle of Downtown it’s easy to miss Kone Sushi.  Their menu is a fusion of Japanese and Brazilian deliciousness and I recommend everyone checks it out, but today we are talking about sweets and their desserts are handmade and out of control.  They make an assortment of 7 mini waffle cones with different fillings: dulce de leche, guava and cream cheese, brigadeiro, coconut, Nutella and coconut, strawberry and Nutella, and just plain guava.  These cones are so rich that their tiny size is just right.  They also have a Nutella pie that is fresh made and so gooey and chocolaty it’s competing with your Mom on sweetness. Kone Sushi 247 SE 1st St, Miami, FL 33131

Moms tolerate a lot over the years and they deserve to be reminded of that!  So don’t forget to let your Mom or that special someone who raised you know how much you care....which is best the way to do just that.
