National Avocado Day: 7 Places to Go Green in Miami

Cinco de Mayo and Super Bowl Sunday aren’t the only days of the year that avocados receive extreme notoriety. FUN FACT: football fans consume 53.5 million pounds of guacamole just on Super Bowl Sundays.

National Avocado Day is Wednesday, July 31, and we highly encourage avocado fans to celebrate at the following South Florida locations who boast the best avocado dishes:

Zak the Baker - Avocado toast at this Wynwood staple is anything but basic when it comes to flavor and ingredients. Zak the Baker’s avocado toast comes with smashed & seasoned avocado topped w/ crumbled feta and red pepper flakes on their unforgettable sourdough multigrain bread.

Threefold Cafe - for those looking for a great avocado toast option in Coral Gables or South Miami, we would opt for the smashed avocado toast at Three fold’s Cafe. Their toast comes served with a very generous amount of avocado topped with feta, lime, basil served with roasted mushroom on Zak the Baker toast. Pro-tip: add an egg for just a few dollars extra.

ALL DAY Miami - the coffee at ALL DAY is amazing, but the food is just as impressive to include their avocado tartine, which features avocado salad with pickled onions and puffed quinoa, on seven grain toast.

Laid Fresh - the egg white sandwich is a hit at this fresh breakfast spot in Wynwood helmed by Chef Mike Lewis of KYU. The Taste leaves you feeling light yet satisfied with soft fluffy scrambled egg whites, avocado, arugula & fresh chilies.

Hillstone - this Coral Gables mainstay featured an avocado dish that shouldn’t be overlooked. Hillstone’s tuna tartare features hand chopped sushi-grade tuna, toasted ciabatta and avocado.

El Bagel - folks lineup each weekend and wait in line to enjoy El Bagels delicious bagels. Their “Avo Spesh” bagel features smashed avocado, English cucumber, sliced radish, plain cream cheese, EVOO, sea salt and chives with optional sprouts (by request only). This bagel is definitely worth the wait!

Yard House - their non-traditional spicy tuna roll is a perfect dish to celebrate National Avocado Day. This delicious roll is made with stacked seared rare ahi, avocado, edamame, and cucumber. Yard House’s poke nachos are also delectable and feature marinated raw ahi tuna, avocado, cilantro, Serrano peppers, green onions, nori, sesame seeds, sweet soy, sriracha aioli, white truffle sauce, and crispy wontons.

With so many amazing dining options, be sure to celebrate National Avocado Day this year and don’t forget to use the avocado emoji in honor of the darling green berry ( yes… it is a fruit and NOT a vegetable)
