Passover Dinner To Go: Holiday dining during COVID-19

Passover or Pesach, a major Jewish holiday and one of the most widely celebrated Jewish holidays begins on Wednesday, April 8th at sundown and ends at sundown on April 16th. It celebrates The Exodus, the freedom from slavery of the Israelites from the evil Pharaoh in Ancient Egypt that followed the Ten Plagues ( who thinks COVID-19 should be the eleventh?)

The Seder is the traditional meal performed by a community or by multiple generations of a family, involving a retelling of the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Seders are held on the first two nights of Passover.

This year, all over the world, Jews will sit down at their computers or phones and connect with their loved ones through Facetime, Zoom, HouseParty or Skype.

Always a celebratory holiday marking spring, this year’s holiday is overshadowed by the Coronavirus and it worldwide affect on all people regardless of religion. All over the world the refrain “Stay Safe and Stay Home” is how this holiday will be observed.

But the chefs in Miami have given us options if you don’t want to cook the traditional big meal of matzo ball soup, brisket, latkes, roast lamb and more and at the same time support the local restaurants.

MIAbites has found two places where you can order ahead the entire meal including in one case even the symbolic seder plate of Roasted Lamb Bone, Boiled Organic Egg, Charoset, Parsley, Salt Water and Horseradish. Both options are not Kosher for Passover, but will be delicious!
