Saturday Sweets: Five Desserts for Miami Chocoholics

I love chocolate in all of its forms and varieties.  When I am browsing any dessert menu I instinctively look for the chocolatiest option possible.  As basic and predictable as it seems a good molten lava cake gets me every time. This week's Saturday Sweets is bringing you the top five desserts found in Brickell for anyone who is as obsessed with chocolate as I am.

Novecento – Todo Chocolate

Warm Chocolate Truffle, Belgian Chocolate Ganache and Chocolate Ice Cream.  The name says it all, ALL chocolate everything!  It’s served warm and is so gooey and rich inside.  One taste may be enough for the weak but a true chocolate lover would happily forge through every bite because it’s just that good. Novecento Brickell 1414 Brickell Ave, Miami, FL 33131

Truluck’s Seafood Steak and Crab House – Chocolate Cake

Four Layer Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing.  Truluck’s is fun for any dessert lover because instead of a dessert menu they bring out a tray with full size versions of the desserts on display for you to choice from.  Their desserts are massive and amazing.  I’m a HUGE fan of their Carrot Cake but on occasion I take a break from it and order the Chocolate Cake – actually who am I kidding, I always order the Carrot Cake but sometimes I order both – a girl should never have to choose!  This chocolate cake is moist and delicious but what really stands out is the silky smooth icing and the warm chocolate sauce that’s poured tableside all over the top of the cake.  The piece is big enough for a small army so I suggest ordering it to share.  Truluck’s Seafood Steak and Crab House 777 Brickell Ave, Miami, FL 33131

Tamarina Restaurant and Bar – Chocolate Fondant

Warm Chocolate Cake, Toasted Marshmallow, Vanilla Gelato.  This cake definitely earned its way onto this list of top chocolatey desserts in Brickell.  The cake itself is melt-in-your-mouth perfect and even though it’s not chocolate, the toasted marshmallow really brings happiness to the table in this dessert.  It adds the light fluffiness that’s needed to cut the crazy rich chocolate happenings in this molten cake.  The graham cracker-like crumbs around the dish gives this cake a nice nod to everyone’s favorite campfire treat the S’more and for that I’m likely to ask for some more!  Tamarina Restaurant and Bar 600 Brickell Ave, Miami, FL 33131

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse – Chocolate Mousse Cake

Chocolate Mousse Cake served with Fresh Schlag (Whipped Cream).  This is easily the simplest dessert on this list but it’s something I look forward to every time I have lunch at Wolfgang’s.  The views of Brickell Bay are spectacular and steaks are delicious but it’s nothing compared to this chocolate mousse cake.  Sometimes I even order a salad if I think I may not be hungry enough for dessert when dining at Wolfgang’s.  The mousse is creamy and decadent and the freshly made whipped cream is yummy enough to eat all on its own preferably in a large bowl with no one watching. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse 315 S Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33131

PM Fish and Steak House – Chocolatisimo PM

Hot Chocolate Soufflé, served over Coffee Reduction with Vanilla Ice Cream.  By now you can tell warm soufflés are a big favorite of mine, but while they are most definitely a chocolate lovers dream it’s impossible to say they are all the same.  This particular soufflé comes complete with a coffee reduction which adds a nice kick of caffeine to help you stay away through your sugar coma.  The reduction is held in place by pretty swirls of magic shell chocolate making this a delightful work of art you’ll be happy to devour. PM Fish and Steak House 1453 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130

Whether you are a chocoholic like me or just one who likes to dabble with chocolate desserts I definitely recommend giving these a try.  All locations are open and available on both the lunch and dinner menus, so no matter what time your craving hits you can be sure to have it satisfied in Brickell.
