Saturday Sweets: Hispanic Heritage Month Gets Sweeter with The Salty Donut & Havana Club Rum

Today marks the first day of National Hispanic Heritage Month, and in Miami there’s no shortage of Hispanic pride. From now through October 15th, you’re sure to find ways to celebrate just a little extra than perhaps we already do on a regular basis. One of the sweetest ways to celebrate the beloved culture is coming at us through a limited time partnership between The Salty Donut and Havana Club Rum — the real one.

Starting Tuesday, September 18th The Salty Donut will be serving what may be their most popular donut ever. A flan croughnut infused with Havana Club rum.

This donut will be made with layered 24-hour brioche dough resembling a croissant, that will be rolled in light sugar and filled with a homemade flan Cuban custard and a splash of Havana Club rum reduction, topped with crunchy caramel and dusted with edible gold. Each donut will be sold for $5.50 and there’s no limit on how many can be purchased per person.

As a fun bonus (only if you’re 21+ of course), each croughnut will come with a mini bottle of Havana Club rum and a cocktail card recipe created by Havana Club Ambassador Gio Gutierrez.

“It’s always wonderful to partner up with Cuban-Americans like Andy & Amanda that are not only entrepreneurs in this magic city of ours, but that care enough to keep family traditions going in fun, new and exciting ways. A Flan Croughnut with Havana Club Rum is just that — la forma perfecta para celebrar National Hispanic Heritage Month,” says Gio Gutierrez.

Wanna celebrate a little earlier than Tuesday? Catch a first look at the specialty donut via UberEats on Monday morning at 11 a.m. Preview boxes including two Havana Club infused flan croughnuts (sorry guys, no mini bottles of rum are sent with these) and two café con leche doughnuts will be available for $20.

We know we’ll be hitting that order button first thing Monday morning! Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
