The Kid Food Critic at The Monster Mash

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE!  Here's MIAbites/KidsBites recap from The Kid Food Critic's visit last weekend to the 2nd Annual Little Monsters Halloween Bash at Tongue & CheekCheck out Tongue & Cheek for Brunch every Saturday and Sunday!

I had brunch at Tongue & Cheek located at 431 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139. I was there to cover for MIAbites their second Annual Little Monster Mash Halloween brunch for families.  Chef Jamie DeRosa and his wife Amy and their daughter were there to welcome all the kids and their families.

The inside of the restaurant was modern, industrial and very unique. There were funny paintings of bulls with hats on and cool things like that. Our waitress was very nice, her name was Claire. I ordered the 6 oz. skirt steak with potato hash, scrambled eggs and a sticky bun on the side with grapefruit juice to drink. The steak was cooked to perfection, it had great flavor and melted in my mouth. I can honestly say, it was the best steak that I ever had!

The potato hash was like tater tots, good crunchy, zesty and delicious tater tots. The eggs weren't runny at all! The sticky bun had nuts and icing, it was warm and amazing. It tasted like something my family makes at home called 'monkey bread'.

The special brunch was called Little Monsters Halloween Bash. There were some Halloween themed menu items for the little kids like Bacon and “devil” eggs, “boo berry” pancakes  and cupcakes decorated with candy corn. They were also collecting non-perishable food donations for a charity called Feeding South Florida. Charity is always good. There were a bunch of kids wearing their Halloween costumes, including my little sister Ellie, who came dressed as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet.

Alyssa from Balloon Masterz was there and even though I may be too old for it, she made some really cool balloon art.

My dad and brother also enjoyed the brunch and ordered the same skirt steak and eggs that I did, and my sister had french toast and my mom had lemon pancakes.

We all had a really fun time and left full and happy. I would love to come back for brunch the next time I'm in Miami Beach. Their regular brunch is on both Saturday 11-3 pm and Sunday from 11- 5 pm. I give Tongue & Cheek 5 sporks up!!!
