Brickell Embraces Fast Casual Dining
Brickell has always been known for its fancy expense account restaurants, great happy hours, and gorgeous views (Hey, Sugar, I’m talking to you) – but over the last year or so Brickell has finally begun to embrace the magic of the fast casual food world.
The ongoing condo construction has brought an increase in residents and the number of professionals living and working in the area has shifted Brickell significantly. Those of us that work or live in Brickell don’t always have the time or budget to sit down for two hours to enjoy a meal, sometimes we just want to be in, out, and fully satisfied.
Here are some of my top fast casual picks in Brickell:
For Burgers - Pincho Factory
I’ve been a fan of these guys since they opened up shop in Westchester years ago. I’m not ashamed to say I cried tears of joy when I saw they were coming to Brickell. Oh, the things I would do for a Toston Burger. They’ve got a menu that features great salads and pinchos (meat on a stick) too.
For Fresh Fish - My Ceviche
My Ceviche might even be the first spot in Brickell to be considered fast casual. I love their fresh fish ceviche bowls and burritos. Great ingredients and flavors that you can mix and match can always be found here. Try their new poke additions with lots of add in toppings and sauces. The chips and salsa are great, too.
For Healthy Mediterranean - Zuuk Kitchen
A new comer to the scene, by the same people that brought us My Ceviche – it’s currently the only location. Zuuk Kitchen features an assembly line set up where you can create your own Mediterranean bowl in seconds. I always go for the spicy beef with lots of veggies and covered tzakiti sauce.
For Mexican Cravings - Coyo Taco
Tacos are definitely one of my favorite foods, so I was pumped when Coyo opened in Brickell in May. Coyo Taco can also be found in Wynwood and while that location may have a not so secret speakeasy in the back, this one is much bigger with lots of seating. Don’t fear the lines, they move pretty fast. Order one of the tortas or the pulpo tacos, as they are custom for this location.
For Cuban Comfort - Palmas Cafeteria
Every once in awhile you just need home cooking like Abuela would make, La Palmas Cafeteria in Brickell satisfies that need under $10 every day. This spot features a rotating menu where for $9.15 you can select a protein and two sides, in portions large enough to last two meals. The pork chops on Tuesdays and the carne con papas on Thursdays are my personal favorites. They also serve breakfast and have a pretty kick ass Cuban sandwich on the menu as well.
For a Taste of The Northeast – Luke’s Lobster
Brickell City Centre is finally open after four long hard years of construction. With it we’ve gained tons of shopping, a movie theater, and some new lunch options. Luke’s Lobster has a great special that features 3 mini rolls – lobster, crab, and shrimp. While they look tiny, I promise they are quite filling.
