Saturday Sweets: MadLab Creamery by Soraya Kilgore Opens in Palm Court

Palm Court in the Design District just got a whole lot sweeter. Soraya Kilgore has officially opened a spot all her own — MadLab Creamery. Inside Soraya’s adorable pink shop you’ll find desserts very different from her perfectly plated works of art at Brava and Alter. MadLab Creamery is all about soft serve, Japanese cheesecake, and gourmet chocolate.

The shop has been a project Soraya wanted to pursue for a while and she made sure to design in a way that will keep you coming back for more. An Italian artist, Gaetano Pesce, is the brilliant mind behind the floors that are covered in fun colored melting ice cream cones. He also created the two large ice cream cones outside of the shop, making sure there’s no way you’d miss the shop as you’re walking by.

Guests have the freedom to make some of the prettiest and most delicious ice cream possible using any of the couple dozen toppings. Most of which, like the chocolate honeycomb, cheesecake, and brownies are housemade.

Other topping are fun and nostalgic like the rainbow colored sprinkles and cherries. Soraya is even handspinning cotton candy onsite, dusting glittering, and adding real flowers to her incredible soft serve cones. Currently soft serve is available in matcha, vanilla, and Ecuadorian chocolate. The plan is to have six soft serve flavors on the menu at all times, with flavors like passion fruit and mango coming into the mix soon.

If you’re not there for the soft serve then it’s all about the Japanese cheesecake and chocolates. The cheesecake is light and fluffy and unlike anything else you can find in Miami. The chocolate is sold by weight and comes in some flavors you may have never tasted like matcha raspberry or Frito Lay dulce de leche and dark chocolate corn flake. It’s hard to narrow down exactly what to pick, so we recommend getting some of each.

In the future, (we hope the near future) the shop will also feature cookies, cupcakes, paletas, small cakes and more. Soraya says she doesn’t want to be limited to just a few sweets, she wants to feature them all.

We think each delicious creation will be better than the next, and as always almost (almost) too pretty to eat! We can’t wait to see what Soraya is coming up with next. Stop by MadLab Creamery in Palm Court open daily from 11am to 9pm for some of the more Instagramable treats in Miami, you won’t regret it.
