Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Taquiza Miami Beach
Cinco de Mayo is primarily a holiday celebrated in the United States. It is said that Cinco de Mayo originated when Mexican-American communities wanted to commemorate freedom during the first years of the American Civil War. Whenever or however it originated, Miamians love any excuse to celebrate with tacos and tequila.
There are many many options for celebrating this “made in America” holiday, but one of our favorites is Taquiza, with two locations both on Miami Beach. Some of the days festivities include a DJ and free shots!
Taquiza - North Beach (7450 Ocean Terr., Miami Beach, FL 33141)
From 12-3 PM, Tequila Mi Campo will be in the "Casa de Masa" giving out free—you guessed it—tequila and margaritas (plus lots of swag). Then, from 6-9 PM, we'll have a DJ spinning, and guests can enjoy a free Cerveza Tulum with purchase of our signature totopos as well as a free shot of Akul Mezcal with purchase of a margarita.
Taquiza - South Beach (1351 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139)
It's a party in South Beach with Tequila Mi Campo from 4-7 PM! Think DJ and lots and lots of Tequila Mi Campo and margaritas.
Cinco de Mayo hours for both locations: 12-9 PM
A must to start with are the puffy thick cut Totopos with fresh salsa and guacamole. Owner Steve Santana has perfected the art of blue corn masa tortillas and chips, and they are worth the trip to Taquiza alone. Authentic and delicious they make each taco special.
With over a dozen taco options, the selection offers meat, pork, chicken, shrimp and vegetarian options including Al Pastor, Carnitas, Barbacoa and Rajas( charred peppers). Vegans will also enjoy the Impossible chorizo. All tacos are topped with radish, onion and a cilantro sprig.
Sides are delicious as well and include Squash Blossom Quesadilla, grilled Elote corn on the cob, Frijoles and Quinoa salad with charred corn, jicama, onion, fresno chilies in a cactus vinaigrette.
Beer, Mexican soda and Sangria and Margaritas complete the Cinco de Mayo experience and we recommend the spicy Margarita. Order with a side of Mexican sparking Topo Chico to cool down as needed.
Save room for the freshly made churros and warm chocolate dipping.
And if you don’t feel like venturing out to either the beachside and chill North Beach location or the buzzy and touristy South Beach location, you can order their Taco Box which includes fillings, 10 blue corn tortillas and signature hot sauce.
And Taquiza is also available on Goldbelly with a variety of taco and tortilla-making kits. Order online at https://www.goldbelly.com/taquiza.
