Saturday Sweets: It's National Ice Cream Day and We're Celebrating at Dasher & Crank
Did you know July is National Ice Cream Month? In 1984 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the warmest month of the year the perfect time to indulge a little extra and officially named July 15th National Ice Cream Day.
In honor of the sweetly refreshing holiday, we’ve teamed up with Dasher & Crank to make a special ice cream to just in time to celebrate!
Dasher & Crank is Wynwood’s pastel pink paradise serving a rotating lineup of 18 flavors of ice cream. Since its opening in April, the craft ice cream shop has created countless flavors and found itself a fun identity with a constant stream of regulars coming back to make sure they aren’t missing any exciting flavor creations.
The ice cream shop is owned by restaurateurs Daniel Levine and Ryan Elias, with chef Thomas McCarthy making magic happen in the kitchen. Chef Thomas has over two decades of pastry experience, most recently in the kitchen at Zuma.

Ice cream flavors are determined after several trials, using Chef Thomas’ skilled palate. Over the years he’s become a master of flavor with an ability to produce combinations that evoke nostalgic memories, while incorporating ingredients from beloved local vendors. Past flavors have included Donuts & Coffee using brown butter + sugar donuts from The Salty Donut and coffee from our favorites at Per’La Specialty Roasters. JoJo Tea makes a regular appearances on Dasher & Crank’s menu. There’s even a black mint chocolate chip, made with activated charcoal, adding a fun twist on the classic flavor.
Our special National Ice Cream Day flavor is a collaboration with Cindy Lou’s Cookies using her Rocky Road Cookie to create Cindy Lou’s Rocky Road, a chocolate based ice cream with chunks of Cindy’s chewy cookies, walnuts, and marshmallow swirl. It’s a rocky road lovers dream come true.

Butter almond pound cake
Caramel fig
Matcha
Strawberry rooibos sorbet
Salty Beach (coconut, sea salt, graham cracker)
Mango Chili Lime

Your Basic Vanilla
Ube macapuno, a blend of Filipino purple yam and coconut
In addition to the 18 ever-changing flavors, Dasher & Crank will be launching handmade flavored cones allowing customers to enjoy endless flavor combinations. The cones will come in colors, depending on the flavor. Think: green matcha cones or bright orange turmeric cones that can be filled with whatever ice cream your heart desires.
