Shuckin and Jivin hosts Community Kitchen Meal Distribution with Food Rescue US- Miami

Shuckin n Jivin Miami Gardens

As we see COVID cases again increase in Florida, staying home and wearing a mask when going out becomes of the utmost importance to maintain our health and those around us and keep our peace of mind.

In partnership with MIAbites, Food Rescue US Miami, Carol City Middle School Principal, Derek Negron, local resident, and Council Seat 5 candidate, Linda Julien and funded by Mr. Dan Lewis, the fifth no-contact Community Kitchen opens in Miami Gardens this Wednesday 6/24.

Shuckin and Jivin Chicken and Seafood will be the host restaurant for three days including Wednesday 6/24, Saturday 6/27 and Wednesday 7/1 offering 300 freshly prepared meals to go a day from 2-4 pm to local residents, furloughed, laid off, healthcare workers and first responders who want a chef-prepared meal from one of Miami Gardens favorite black-owned restaurants.

The meal distribution promises to be a fun time, as Shuckin and Jivin will be distributing right out of their food truck at the Jesus People Ministries Church at 4055 NW 183rd St. Miami Gardens.

This will be the fifth Community Kitchen Meal Distribution and follows on the heels of 10 weeks at Red Rooster Overtown which provided over 9000 meals, Alter, which provided 1200 meals, Chef Creole Miami Gardens at 1000 meals, Yarumba at 900 meals and Café La Trova at 500 meals. In addition, over 20,000 meals were donated by Jlo and Arod’s Tiller and Hatch and distributed over a 4 day period.

Future plans are in the works for 2-3 locations in Little Haiti to provide over 5000 meals.
