The First Annual South Beach Mango Festival August 5th 11-7 pm
Mango season has always been one of the favorite and certainly the sweetest season in South Florida. And now we have a reason to celebrate this delicious staple of our tropical climate.
Chef, author and James Beard winner, Chef Allen Susser and longtime friend, Robert Lansburgh have teamed up to bring an exciting new event to both locals and tourists. The first Annual South Beach Mango Festival will be held on Sunday, August 5th from 11-7 pm. A family-friendly event on the beach at Lummus Park at 12th st and Ocean Drive, tickets are only $20. The day-long event will include a Mango Farmers Market, Mango Eating contest, Kids activities, Cooking demos and a Mango Cocktail Competition. Local top chefs will join Chef Allen in offering mango inspired bites.
The days activities include:
11:00 am- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, Big Brothers Chairman Gale Nelson,
Founder Robert Lansburgh, Culinary Director Chef Allen Susser, and Team Mango.
12:00 Noon- Kids “Cook Like a Pro” with Chef Daniel Serfer, Chef /Owner: Mignonette and Blue Collar
Chef Danny shows Kids just how easy and delicious Mangos can be.
1:00 pm- “Eat-it-or-Beat-it” Kids Mango Eating Competition: How many mangos can you devour in 60 seconds?
1:30 pm- “Mango Bakers n’ Shakers” Recipe Contest- Judged professionally for Creativity, Presentation and Taste. $200 First Prize
2:00 pm- “Mango Munch” Cooking Demo with Chef Chris Valdes, Chef/ Entrepreneur: Best Chefs Catering. Food Network Star Chef Chris shares his delightful Mango recipes.
3:00 pm- “Mango Blast Cooking Class” with Chef Wenford P. Simpson, Chef/ Entrepreneur: High Line Ballroom & Sony Hall. Chef Wenford artfully prepares Mango with Amazing Caribbean spices.
4:00 pm- “Secret to Miami’s Latin Mango Passion” with Chef James Tahhan, Chef and co- host for Telemundo Am Show. Chef James presents his Latin Mango heritage and Mango cookery.
5:00 pm- “Exotic Caribbean Mango Cooking” with Hugh Sinclair a.k.a. Chef Irie. Chef Irie Spice Inc & Host of PBS tv Caribbean Cooking Show “Taste of the Islands”. Chef Irie shares his exotic spirit of the Caribbean.

All submissions must be for 8-10 tastings and dropped off no later than 12 Noon on Saturday, August 5th. Recipes will be judged for Taste, Creativity and Presentation. Judging will take place at 1:30 and winner must be present to win.
The South Beach Mango Festival will also benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Miami.
