It looks like 2019 is shaping up to be a busy year in the Magic City. The month of January brings back some favorites like Matador Bar’s Pizza and Pineapple nights, new happy hours at Root & Bone, Azabu, and El Cielo, and whiskey tastings with some of our favorite brands.

Reservations to the highly anticipated Coral Gables-based restaurant, Ad Lib -- led by Executive Chef and Partner Jamie DeRosa and two-time James Beard finalist Executive Pastry Chef Hedy Goldsmith -- are now live as of this afternoon via Tock, Ad Lib’s exclusive reservation system.

Dry Aged Meat Dinners at Josh’s Deli Surfside Friday January 18th and 25th.
Join Josh Marcus as he converts his popular deli into a cozy intimate spot featuring his dry aged ribeye and porterhouse ( As featured on MIAbites here ). The new Miami outpost of Root & Bone is bringing some joy to the work week! Beginning Monday, January 14th guests can partake in Happy Hour specials from 4-7PM including: Half-off Well Spirits and Wines by the Glass; $5 Draft Beers; and $8 Specialty Cocktails like the sassy Julia Sugarbaker –Wild Turkey, peach, honey lavender, and fresh lemon or the smoky Heavens to Betsy – Vida Mezcal, Luxardo Maraschino, mint, and fresh lime. Along with libations, southern-inspired bites on the new menu are a bargain: $4 for Deviled Eggs/Bacon Bites/Smashed Sunchokes (no caviar)/Angel Biscuits or $7 for Warm Pimento Dip/Root Tartare.

Sip Whiskey at Rusty Pelican
One of South Florida’s most iconic dining destinations, the Rusty Pelican, will serve as the host venue for a very special pairing dinner on Thursday, January 17thfor an equally renowned brand, The Macallan – distillers of Highland single malt scotch whisky. Priced at $198pp++ the menu, created by Rusty Pelican’s Executive Chef Jimmy Pastor, will pair several of The Macallan’s most coveted releases, including the Rare Cask and Reflexion, with dishes designed to complement the flavors of the selected accompaniments.
The intimate evening gets underway at 7PM with a reception featuring passed bites and a cocktail with The Macallan 12yr Sherry Oak crafted by Rusty Pelican’s Mixologist, Oscar Amaya; guests will be seated for the five-course dinner at 7:30PM. Guests can look forward to a welcome cocktail, passed canapés, wine pairings and a plated 4-5 course Sunday lunch, highlighting peak-season Florida produce. Although this thoughtful menu will be vegetable-centric, it will not be vegetarian. (No substitutions or refunds possible.)
