Join Salumeria 104 in Coral Gables for a wine & cheese pairing on Thursday, August 8. The Italian trattoria and neighborhood salumi shop will feature master cheese tester, GianCarlo Russo with Chef Angelo Masarin to take guests on a wonderful culinary journey. On Friday August 16th at 11 am, the Ritz Carlton Bal Harbour is offering an opportunity for food lovers to go behind the scenes to the kitchen and learn a great recipe from executive chef, Chef Anthony. The dish is grilled octopus nicoise, so it’s a great light summer dish, inspired by the waters surrounding the hotel. The cooking class will be followed by a cocktail class in the bar, making ‘the Pample’loma’ (tequila, grapefruit juice, pamlemousse liquor, agave syrup) which will complement the nicoise. $150/guest (includes the lunch, cocktails, meet and greet and wine.) On Friday, August 16th, local and global brands and rum experts and enthusiasts will take over the poolside garden at The Confidante Miami Beach for the third annual National Rum Day Fest. Festivities kick off at 5:00 p.m. for VIP guests and 6:00 p.m. for general admission. Participating rums include: Ron Zacapa, Bacardi, Diplomatico, Santa Theresa, Havana Club, La Hechicera, Malibu and more will celebrate their favorite spirit category, RUM! Fleming’s has launched a Steaks of Summer promotion which consists of a three-course menu featuring their 8 oz. filet mignon topped with one of three exclusive flavor sensations: colossal king crab scampi, which includes sautéed roasted Campari tomatoes with white wine herb butter, seared pork belly with a fig demi-glace or deconstructed Wellington featured over sautéed spinach, mushroom duxelle filled puff pastry, topped with a cabernet demi-glace. The special menu is also includes a starter, which is the Fleming Salad along with a choice of dessert, from the Campfire pot de crème with a graham cracker crust and brûléed marshmallow topping or delight in their chocolate berry trifle which has fresh berries and a strawberry champagne sauce. Geoffrey Zakarian's Point Royal at the Diplomat Beach Resort will participate in Ft. Lauderdale Restaurant Month all August with a killer three-course menu for just $45..
