On Saturday April 8th, MKT by bazbaz , an open air public Art Installation and Marketplace, opened on an empty corner lot at 2100 North Miami Ave. in Wynwood with a community of over 40 local artisans, artists, musicians, farmers and food entrepreneurs.
The curated vendors have been hand selected by Creative Director, Alvaro Perez Miranda, for the superior quality of their offerings, and their socially conscious message and practices. MKT is a laboratory of creativity and entrepreneurship, where vendors sell their goods and share their stories, through daily talks in the amphitheater.
With a backdrop of HUMANAE (work in progress) by Brazilian artist, Angelica Dass, a huge mural depicting the many colors of humanity as Pantone numbers, it is clear that MKT is offering a sanctuary of diversity, acceptance, freedom to be creative and offer support to our community.
Wellness is at MKT’s core, as local produce, fruit, Jucy Lu cold pressed juices and Green Frog artisanal-fair trade coffee from Colombia are among the fresh Farmer’s Market offerings.
Specially created healthy bowls, salads, teas and snacks are available from Smart Bites, Dragonfly Lean Cuisine, Dosha Ayurvedic, Lady Fingrs popsicles and LeSage Bakery.
And organic cosmetics, soaps and skin care products are among the new vendors added weekly.
Art is also a pivotal element to MKT, as local artists and artisans like Valeria Krasavina Cards, Judith Tani Ceramicas and Summertime by Sylvie offer a variety of mixed media and hand-crafted apparel and accessories.
One of the focal points is the amphitheater, where local musicians play and thought-provoking talks and workshops are offered. Each week a new focus will prevail at MKT, with this Saturday April 15th being the Environment, including a special visit from the Miami Zoo. April 22nd will focus on Community and April 29th will be on Food and Urban Farming.
Admission is free and MKT is both family and dog-friendly.
MKT is proud to have Slow Food Miami and The Education Fund as its charity partners.
