Katz's Deli Comes To Miami To "Pass the Pastrami" at Harry's Pizzeria
A little bit of New York City is stopping in Miami this week! New York City’s iconic Katz’s Delicatessen is sharing the Jewish Deli love across the country with the launch of its first-ever Pass the Pastrami series. Lucky for us - it's in Miami starting today at Harry's Pizzeria in Coconut Grove and can be enjoyed until July 16th. Celebrated chefs will “pass the pastrami” from chef-to-chef with each of their restaurants offering a signature Katz’s-inspired dish.
"We sell 15,000 pounds of pastrami every week, making it our most popular meat at the moment. I've always enjoyed watching others put their own spin on the classics, so I can't wait to see what these insanely talented chefs are going to come up with,” says Katz’s Deli owner, Jake Dell. “It’s a fun way for people in different cities to get a taste of what we do here at Katz’s, and to learn some cool new recipes that they can recreate at home through our shipping department."
The series kicked off in Boston with Chef Jamie Bissonnette who cooked up his take on the world-famous pastrami for a week-long stretch. Now Bissonnette has “passed the pastrami” to his fellow chef and friend, Chef Michael Schwartz in Miami, who is sharing the Katz’s Deli experience with Chef Marc Vetri in Philadelphia the following week. Additional chefs will be announced later this summer.
