New Brasserie menu at Alter Wynwood
No question it has been a tough few weeks in South Florida. As I write this, there are still areas without electricity, and the images of the Keys is haunting.
But Floridians are a resilient lot, and the chefs and restaurants that call Miami their home, have rallied to support local Hurricane Irma relief efforts thru food donations, specially priced menus, and even fundraising.
One of our favorite chefs, Bradley Kilgore, has created a special Brasserie menu for the rest of September to celebrate the reopening of Alter in Wynwood and perhaps make dining out more affordable and approachable to many looking for a rewarding evening after a long and probably stressful day. The boutique dining experience that Alter offers may be just what you need to begin the recovery and return to normalcy.
The Chef’s Tasting Menu is priced at $49, but there are many items you can select a la carte including Chef Kilgore’s signature, soft egg with scallop espuma with Siberian caviar at $17 (or add Iranian osetra caviar for additional $15).
Some of the more casual comfort food brasserie menu highlights include: ( See full menu below):
Small plates are well priced from $10-17 and include Boursin Risotto with escargot, garlic-parsley butter, and Bacon and Ricotta tortellini with duck yolk crema, herbs and pan-fried Veal Sweetbreads with pickled ramp gribiche, preserved lemon gremolata.
Large plates are priced from $19-27 (except the rib-eye au poivre at $30) and include Brined Organic Chicken- (hot dipped or dry) country fried with rosemary, honey-gochujang sauce, Lamb Shank- braised & glazed celeriac puree, celery slaw remoulade, jalapeño, Loup de Mer, pan roasted with, vetrano olive butter, fennel bulb & parsley salad. There are veggie sides like Roasted Asparagus, preserved ramp hollandaise, Baked Sweet Potato with miso brown butter, furikake and Glazed Young Carrots with toasted pistachios, togarashi.
Desserts by the talented pastry chef, Soraya Kilgore, include Autumn Apple Crumble with cultured cream, Ceylon Cinnamon Chocolate mille-feuille with toffee, toasted peanut, sea salt, and a decadent Banana Split with ice cream of the week.
Alter is one of those Miami gems that deserve our support, and this brasserie menu will leave you with a smile on your face. Bar Alter is also open and will continue to offer its inventive cocktail program and Miami Spice menu.
