Travel Thursday: Brightline Introduces The Tasting Train

Brightline Miami

Welcome Brightline! The privately financed express train line connecting Miami with Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach (and ultimately Orlando in 2021) hosted a Tasting Train kick off party September 7th at the Brightline MiamiCentral Station. It was a night filled with live music, catered bites and wine as decadent as the views.

The Tasting Train is the first of its kind for Brightline, and is one of many “all aboard” events planned to cater to riders and foodies looking for more than just a quick trip.

Passengers boarded the train at the Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach stations and rode in style as onboard tastings and entertainment gave depth to the ever-changing skylines and landscapes.

Once arriving at the MiamiCentral Station guests disembarked onto the elevated platform filled with tables of different cheeses and meats to pair with the Far Niente California wines.

Servers with silver platters holding bites of fried chicken and watermelon skewers, braised short rib sliders, lobster rolls and more weaved through the lively crowd as music from the live band echoed throughout the platform.

The silver platters seemed endless as more food came out, eventually ending with a wave of rich desserts.

Far Niente, the Napa Valley California winery provided the drinks to go alongside the view of Downtown Miami. An endless pour of their Pinot Noir EnRoute, their Cabernet Sauvignon Bella Union or their Chardonnay Far Niente. In Italian, Far Niente actually translates to “pleasantly do nothing” and relaxing on a train while sipping wine is certainly a pleasant way to “do nothing”.

The Tasting Train is Brightline’s first step at becoming more than a way to travel but a way to experience traveling in comfort while avoiding the congestion of the I95 corridor.

Brightline plans to make The Tasting Train a regular event, with the next one scheduled for October 5th featuring wines from Tuscany’s Antinori . Tickets are $100-200 dollars and available on Eventbrite link HERE.
