Team Mendin: Cochon 555 Finale was Sunday September 30th
Created in 2008 to educate and bring awareness to heritage breed pigs, Cochon555 is a nose-to-tail culinary event featuring 5 chefs, 5 heritage breed pigs and 5 winemakers competing to be crowned “Prince or Princess of Porc”. Hosted regionally in 10 cities across the country, the Grand Cochon finale on Sunday September 30th in Chicago brings together all Cochon 555 regional winners and features Habitat’s Chef Jose Mendin and Bartender, Steven Minor as our Miami representatives.
This is the second time Chef Mendin, of Habitat, Pubbelly, Chef Partner of Food Comma Hospitatlity Group, and 5 time James Beard nominee has been in the finale, the last time was in 2014.
Grand Cochon spotlights the 'Best 3 Bites' from all Cochon555 tour competition cities. 10 chefs cook 10 pigs in a head-to-tail, winner-takes-all showdown. The winner is crowned “Queen or King of Porc". The decadent ticket features all-in tasting of caviar, oysters, cheese, wines, beers, cider, spirits, and more.
If a quick trip to Chicago is not in your plans, you can follow along on MIAbites Twitter or Facebook as we will post winner, which we hope you will join us in cheering own our own, Chef Jose Mendin and Steven Minor.
