Saturday Sweets: Best Desserts of 2018
It’s the last Saturday Sweets of the year. There’s been 52 delicious dessert filled weeks with more sweets than the average person can handle. The sweet scene in Miami has grown a ton this year with more dessert options and sugar filled outposts than ever before. It’s hard pick favorites, because there were so many treats to choose from but someone’s gotta do it.
Here are the five best desserts I had this year:
Alter’s Parsnip Macaroon
Any meal at Alter in Wynwood is bound to be amazing, and you can’t have a well rounded meal without dessert. While parsnip might not be your first thought when it comes time to order dessert, you’re missing out if you skip over this one. Not only is this dish absolutely gorgeous, but it’s light and delicious and full of flavor. The brown butter banana bread, calamansi citrus caramel, burnt white chocolate mousse, parsley and parsnip ice cream is out of this world and was an easy inclusion for best of 2018’s desserts.

Everything from MadLab Creamery
MadLab Creamery opened early 2018 and has been serving up sweet vibes all year long. Between the Japanese cheesecake and insanely delicious soft serve it’s hard to decide which route to go, and that’s why everything at MadLab Creamery topped the charts for best desserts of 2018. If you haven’t made your way to the Design District to check out Soraya Kilgore’s sweet emporium, do yourself a favor and head there soon.

Pubbelly Sushi’s Miso Bread Pudding 2.0
They say if something isn’t broken, then don’t fix it — but that’s not advice pastry chef Maria Ortanes listened to when she decided to recreate her Miso Bread Pudding. Version 2.0 is slightly different and made even more delicious than the original (which we didn’t think was possible). The chocolate miso custard, brioche, and sesame brittle create a perfect marriage of flavors and are the ideal sweet ending to any meal at Pubbelly Sushi.

Stubborn Seed’s Layers of Chocolate
All chocolate everything is the way to my heart. The Layers of Chocolate dessert by Dallas Wynne at Stubborn Seed starts with a chocolate cookie crumble bottom, layered with Valrhona chocolate ganache, dulce de leche, and a light and creamy chocolate mousse that’s topped with more cookie crumbles and fresh fruit making it both the perfect amount of rich chocolate and sweet satisfaction.

dbaker’s Nutella Cheesecake BRUH Macaron Sandwich
Nutella always makes everything better. This giant macaron is filled with creamy cheesecake, Ferreero Rocher chocolates, and covered in Nutella sandwiched in an oversized chocolate macaron. dbakers Sweet Studio may be known for its beautiful cakes, but don’t overlook the pastry display case because that’s where you’ll find the can’t miss goods.
